Choir & Consort

Founded by the italian conductor Giulio Prandi, the organist Maria Cecilia Farina, the violinist Marco Bianchi and the cellist Alberto Guerrero, Arìon Choir & Consort is a period-instrument group gathering 16 young choristers and some of the most skilled and renowned Italian baroque instrumentalists, senior members of the best Italian groups.
Besides performing the best-known authors, Arìon has devoted itself to the discovery of the 18th Century Italian choral-instrumental sacred repertoire; in its many concerts it normally performs rare and unpublished works of such authors as Perti, Leo, D’Astorga, Fioroni, Durante, Mascitti, Traetta.
In the last years Arìon has been invited by the most important Italian Festivals (Festival Mito Settembre Musica in Milan, Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Settimane Musicali in Stresa, Nuove Settimane Barocche in Brescia) and broadcasted on national radio channels such as Rai Radio Tre and RadioClassica.
It rapidly became one of the best Italian emergent groups, working with important solo-singers such as Maria Grazia Schiavo, Christian Senn, José Maria Lo Monaco, Gabriella Sborgi, Marcella Orsatti Talamanca.
Arìon is in residence at Collegio Ghislieri in Pavia, Italy; it’s a member of ReteOrfeo, the Lombardia Regional Circuit of Ancient Music, regularly performing in Milan, Brescia and Mantua.
In 2009 Arìon will record a CD for the Italian magazine Amadeus.
